Birthday Pics of Matt

After a long hiatus, the blog is back.    Of course, it features Matthew.  Matt turned one on July 26 and we had a big party for him on Saturday, July 29.  You can see the pictures at the link below

Long Time, No Post

Sorry that I haven't posted on here lately.  Been busy with lots of things including my college basketball blog.    First and foremost, Matt is 29 inches and 21 pounds, and simply a happy kid.  He actually sits on my lap as we go thru all the stories and games on Sesame Street's website.  Its simply a great site.  Also Matt loves the computer mouse.   No, he hasn't tried to put it in his mouth...yet.

Second, I have got hooked on a baseball simulation site, called WhatIfSports.com.  Its great, for sixty bucks you can play in five leagues.  The leagues are mostly open leagues (with some private and theme leagues) with 162 game seasons.  You get a $80 million cap to spend on 25 players.   I have learned very quickly the following; as far as pitching, you need three great starters who throw about 250 innings plus, have low HR and walk ratios, plus a really good setup man and closer.  Its best to have old time pitchers like Three Fingers Mordecai Brown, Addie Joss among others.  Walter Johnson's rookie year is my closer for a couple of leagues.  As for hitting, you should get high OBP guys and guys that can field especially with A- or better range.  I do try to get two power hitters who have B range.  Guys I love are Willie Wilson, Richie Ashburn, Juan Gonzalez and Mike Sweeney.

How are my teams doing?  Well the first team, Baseball Bugs was 82-80.  The second team I had, Baseball Bugs III (Baseball Bugs II was a spring training team as I tested somethings out) was 85-77.  My third team, the Wile Coyotes, won 94 games made the playoffs, winning a tiebreaker game from a team that has won 65 championships (yes, that is correct 65) overall after being down 3 games with 3 to play.  It then went onto win its Division Series after being down 2-0  in a best of five, then won the league championship series after being down 2-0 .  It lost in the world Series but I made a Tournament of Champions.  So considering it was my third team in this simulation league, not bad.  My fourth team, the LI Daffy Ducks, won 95 games, finished first in its division, and has just won its Division Series after being down 2-1 in a best of five.  I have 3 other teams in this site right now.  Its early, but two are in first place in their divisions.  The other is in third place in its division. In that same division is another team from the guy that I beat who has the 65 championships, plus another guy  ahead of me has won 6 championships.  I have a feeling that I am not making the playoffs in that league.

Its nice to see the weather get warm.  I already have done some yard work and some seeding in the front and on the side.   The backyard is next.  The flowers are already out in the garden and I got Chelle some pansies and tulips for her.  Next on the list is primrose.   I have a simple philosophy.  If it doesn't flower, its gone.  Thus a couple of little bushes in the front are on my hit list. :-)

Other than that, its a nice break week.  No school which means I can come in later...ok later for me is 8:15.  I got to feed Matt this morning, which is so much fun.  Has to work on not moving his head..Oatmeal on the cheek, not pleasant..

There will be more pictures on the photo album link on the left side shortly.  TTFN

Weekend Couldn't Have Come Soon Enough

It was a crazy week at work.  Still need to do a lot of things before I leave for Richmond next Thursday afternoon.

Matt has learned to yell.   Scream.  Whatever you call it.  And its high pitched enough to make the dog run away.  And he enjoys doing it.  :-)

Matt's Big Night

My wife threw me a 40th birthday party last night, but lets face it, my son Matthew was the big attraction.   And he was his usual great self most of the night.  But later in the night he got really agitated and wouldn't stop crying, no matter what Chelle or I did.  Finally Chelle gave him some water and he was back to himself.  Perhaps he didn't like the yucky tylenol my wife gave him earlier.   Oh well.  Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out last night on a very cold night.  Much much appreciated.

Matthew Moore Checkup Update

Matt is now 19 pounds and 28 1/2 inches.  He gained a pound and a half and an inch and half since his last checkup.  He can now take vitamins and the doctor recommended more food and less formula.  Matt had a couple of shots so he is not his usual happy self, just a little cranky.

Kids Find the Simple Things Interesting

Just before my wife came home, I was walking Matt around the house.  He was a little cranky due to teething and he likes to be walked around and observe things.  So we went into the kitchen and Matt likes to look up at the celing fan and lights we have.  The fan was off so I pushed the fan with my finger. Matt was really taking an interest.  So I decided to turn the fan on.  Matt was mesmerized, mouth wide open!  He couldn't stop looking at it.

Then Chelle came home a little later.  Its very amusing watch my dog go back and forth between the kitchen and the living room to see which door Chelle is going into.  Then after Chelle came in, I walked Matt into the kitchen where she was.  I said, "You're probably wondering why the kitchen fan is on.  Watch".   Matt then looked up at the fan again and again was mesmerized.  A big smile came across his face and when Chelle came up to him and said "You like the fan huh?", she startled him, then he started to laugh.  Then he looked back up at the fan, then looked back at Chelle and giggled more.   This went on for about 2 minutes.  Very funny.

A Weekend with Matt!

Chelle is working, so Matt gets to spend quality time with daddy.  this is the first time I have watched him on my own since he has started getting teeth (at least noticeably), so he has been a little cranky at times.  We'll see how dad does today.

New Matthew Pictures

There are new pictures of Matt in the photo album section of the blog.  Enjoy!

Plus in the college basketball blog, there is a posting from last night recapping CAA action, including the wild, wild finish at Drexel between Drexel and Hofstra, which I was there for.  Great game.

Yes, I did say this to Matt today..

I was feeding Matt this morning and he drank his milk really fast.  After I commented to Chelle that he drank his milk so fast, she commented "His bottle has a stage 2 nipple on it.  Its wider so he gets more milk quicker".

Of course, I had to comment.  I turn to Matt and said "Aren't you glad mommy is not breast feeding.  She doesn't have a stage 2 nipple."

Yup, I said it. :-)
